One of the most obvious impacts of climate change is accelerated glacial recession. Seeing how much our glaciers have shrunk, even over my short lifetime, never ceases to shock me. I'm putting some photos (taken by me unless otherwise noted) as comparisons here so I have them somewhere. Naturally, things fluctuate year on year and there is considerable melt between summer months — this is not a scientific analysis by any means.
I'm also including some summer shots I come across around Whistler to keep tabs on snow levels.
Horstman Glacier
Blackcomb's Horstman Glacier was once the epicentre of freeskiing in the summer months. Now, I doubt there's more than a few years of operable conditions left. Every year, if I get the chance, I like to check in on the summertime ice.
